Cookie information

Last updated: October 30, 2026

Architecture Woods uses cookies and similar technologies to support website functions, remember privacy choices, and measure readership when you allow analytics. This page explains their purposes and how to manage them. Our Privacy policy provides further information about personal data.

What cookies do

Cookies are small pieces of information stored by your browser. They can remember a preference or help a website recognize a signed-in session. Some expire when a browser session ends; others remain until their expiry date or until you delete them.

A cookie stored for our website can support a third-party service, such as Google Analytics. Where a cookie is stored does not by itself determine who receives the information.

Sign-in and security

If you choose to sign in with Google, our website uses cookies to recognize your authenticated session and support the sign-in process. These cookies serve the account function you request and are separate from optional analytics.

Our main sign-in session cookie has a seven-day expiry that can be renewed during continued use. Additional temporary cookies may support completion of the sign-in process. Signing out ends the current website session; deleting or blocking sign-in cookies may require you to sign in again. You can read public articles without signing in.

Google's sign-in service may also use cookies and similar technologies under Google's own policies. Our analytics preference does not control cookies on Google's domains or your Google account settings. See Google's cookie information for details.

Continuing a comment after sign-in

When reader comments are enabled, temporary session storage in the current browser tab can retain the article, comment draft and submission identifier while you sign in. This supports the comment action you requested. It contains no credentials, is accepted for up to 15 minutes, and is cleared when consumed, cancelled, or completed. It is separate from analytics storage. Blocking this storage may prevent a draft from continuing through redirect sign-in.

Remembering your privacy choice

We use a preference cookie to remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics. It records your choice, when it was made, and the version of the preference record.

This cookie is stored for up to 180 days after you save your choice, unless you clear it sooner or your browser limits its lifetime. It is used whether you accept or reject analytics, so we can apply your decision on later visits. Changing your choice starts a new storage period.

If the saved choice expires, is missing, or is no longer valid, optional analytics remains off until you accept again.

Optional Google Analytics

With your consent, Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish visits and measure how readers use the website. Information may include the pages viewed, referring pages, browser and device details, approximate location, interactions, and cookie identifiers.

We do not load our Google Analytics integration before you accept analytics cookies. Our configuration disables Google signals and advertising personalization.

Google Analytics cookies can persist between visits. Google's standard default expiry is two years and can be renewed as the cookies are used. Actual storage depends on the service configuration, browser restrictions, and your choices. These cookie lifetimes are separate from how long analytics records are retained on Google's systems.

Read more about Google Analytics cookie purposes and default lifetimes and how Google processes information from partner websites.

Accepting, rejecting, or changing your choice

When optional analytics is enabled on this website, use Accept or Reject in the analytics cookie banner. You can then reopen the controls at any time through Cookie settings in the website footer.

Rejecting analytics does not prevent you from reading articles or using Google sign-in. Continuing to browse without accepting does not enable analytics.

If you withdraw consent after accepting, our integration stops further analytics collection and removes the analytics cookies it set for this website where the browser permits. This does not automatically erase previously collected analytics records or cookies on Google's own domains. For a personal-data request, contact us using the details below.

Your saved choice applies to the browser and device where you make it. You may need to choose again on another device or after clearing site data.

Browser controls

Your browser can also let you inspect, block, or delete cookies and other site data. Blocking functional cookies may affect sign-in or prevent your privacy choice from being remembered.

Clearing cookies does not delete your Architecture Woods account. It also does not replace a request to delete personal information already held by us or our providers.

Updates and contact

We may update this page when our cookie use changes. The date above identifies the latest revision. Where required, we will request a new choice before using additional optional technologies.
